Re: harts battery
In Response To: harts battery ()

I believe you are referring to a Arkansas battery once commanded by Captain William Hart. It was raised as the Dallas Light Artillery on August 1, 1861 and served in the Trans-Mississippi region. Fought at Pea Ridge, Captured at Arkansas Post, exchanged and continued in service. Late in war, was officially named the 2nd Arkansas Field Battery still commanded by Captain William Hart. In November 1864 was assigned as part of the Reserve Artillery Bbattalion of the Trans-Mississippi Department. It had four cannon. By June, 1865, the battery was stationed in Marshal Texas and it had no cannons. The battery still in Marshal as part of General Tappen's Brigade, was surrendered on June 2nd as part of the surrender of all confederate forces in Galveston, TX.

The battery mentioned as the Dallas Light Artillery of Texas, as known as Good's TX Battery is not the battery you seek. One source used is Ancestry.com
