Hello - I am seeking information about a cannon captured during the civil war by members of the 44th Ohio Infantry. The cannon now resides in Springfield, Ohio.

The cannon was captured at the Battle of Lewisburg, (W) Va., May 23, 1862.

I have read various accounts which list this gun as a six pounder rifled cannon, a ten pounder smooth bore, and a 12 pounder smooth bore.

Who do you believe?

My suspicion is that it is a 12-pounder smooth bore cannon.

Can anyone give me definitive identification of this gun?
