"Mountain Howitzer"

Can someone help me interpret artillery terminology. I have a "Quarterly Returns of Ordnance Store on Hand" dtd Nov 16, 1863 for Battery "L" 1st Illinois Light Artillery (Mulligan's Brass Band) that includes: "1 Smooth-Bore, 12-Pounder Guns light, Model 1857," and "4 Rifled Guns, Bronze, 6-Pounder 'James' 3.80".
In his report of the capture of New Creek, WVa. on Nov 28, 1864, Gen Rosser mentions capturing "Two 12 pound light pieces, One 6 pound light and One rifled Ordnance Piece.

The question is, does any of this describe a "Mountain Howitzer," that was described by a witness to an engagement in May 1864 as being used by Battery "L" The eyewitness refers to "Mulligan's Jackass Battery," likely referring to the manner of transport, not the efficiency of the Battery. Thanks
