Re: Brookhaven Light Artillery question

The Brookhaven Artillery was formed in the spring of 1862 in Lincoln county Mississippi. It was commanded by Captain James A Hoskins during its wartime service. It served in Mississippi and Eastern Louisiana. It was in the vicinity of Port Hudson but was moved closer to Vicksburg and fought at Jackson Miss. When Vicksburg fell, the battery was above in the Yazoo country. It served in the Meridian campaign, Jan 1864 with two 6 pdr bronze field guns and 2 iron 2.9" Parrott rifles. It was sent to the Army of the Tennessee for the Atlanta Siege and battle and still later, was with Hood in his Tennessee campaign against Nashville.

This is a brief sketch of the batteries' history. Need more time to research this unit.
