Re: CSA Screven Guards "D" Comp. 47th Infantry

Hey Davina,

I like you have ancestors within the 47th Georgia Volunteer Infantry Regiment.

Col. A. C. Edwards- Executive Commanding Officer
Lt. Col. Joseph S. Cone- Battalion Commanding Officer - WIA(James Island,SC(1862)
Maj. James G. Cone- Battalion Commanding Officer
Pvt. Samuel Cone- Co. K "Capers Volunteers" - KIA(Honey Hill, SC(1864)
Pvt. Aaron Cone- Co. K "Capers Volunteers" - KIA(Honey Hill, SC(1864)
Pvt. Paul R. Cone- Co. K "Caper Volunteers" - Furnished replacement,(Nathaniel Cowart) June (1864)

Your ancestor, Lodvick G. Mock is on my complete roster of the 47th Geo. Vol. Inf. Reg't., while no direct action involved the 47th Gerogia on John's Island, the 47th Geo. did see extensive action on James Island right next to it during the regiments stint in and around the Charleston defenses. The best sumation that I can come up with is that if they didn't see direct action there,(which theres nothing stating they did) they were either in regimental reserve or bivouaced there.

Hope this helps,

Regards,
