The Bellona Foundry continued in operation during the civil war, making heavy artillery. Production was limited and the firm declined with a limited production. It was destroyed after the civil war and did not continue work. Of interest is that no records of the firm survived the war or, to say, none has appeared. Nothing survives today except some ruins near the restored Bellona Arsenal. At the Bellona Foundry sit, is a gunfounders flask and the rough casting that was inside when the flask was found in the James River in 1961. At times, Bellona and Tredagar assisted each other during the war.
