Update of the Camp Chase Body Snatchers

Many things have been learned about the orignal posting of the Camp Chase Body Snatchers from a few years ago. Three men were arrested by the Camp Chase Post Commander, Colonel William Pitt Richardson. The ring-leader was Columbus resident Dr. Joab Flowers. The other man's occupation was found by using the Columbus city directory. He was a blacksmith and his place of business was just a few blocks away from the rail road terminal located in Columbus. Being in his late 20's he must have provided much of the labor.

The last man was much more complex as the city directory had him listed as staying at the American Motel located in Columbus. As it turned out
his father was the freight agent for the railroad. Thus a perfect man to have for Dr. Flowers plans. Dr. Flowers kept watch and checked the Confederate bodies for small-pox etc. The blacksmith provided the wagons and labor along with the freight agents son and on the night of November 24, 1864 the plan was put into motion.

Of course there is much more to the story but for those who may have wondered how the body snatching crime took place we now have a rather clear idea.
