I encourage Illinois Civil War buffs to check out the regimental history that I worked on for 20 years. The book came out last fall and is available online at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and through the publisher authorHouse. The title is "Clear The Track: A History of the Eighty-ninth Illinois Volunteer Infantry, The Railroad Regiment." William F. Fox listed the 89th Illinois among the "Three the Fighting Regiment" of the war. At 488 pages, this is a comprehensive and detailed history, which includes a bibliography, index, and illustrations.
