Re: Traveler Newspaper, Kane County Ind. Cav.

first time I have ever seen a posting by someone who had a relative in the same unit as my relative but it turns out that you and I had two relatives in the same units. my great-great grandfather, Samuel chapman came to kane county in 1844 and came to America in 1841 from Scotland. he was in sherer's independent cavalry when it was part of the 36th. Illinois infantry. he was a first lieutenant. he, for some reason, resigned about 3 weeks after the battle of pea ridge. the other was, by marriage, an uncle. Robert marsden, born in England in 1843, family moved to kane county in 1849 I believe. enlisted into the 127th. Illinois volunteer infantry company E and served 3 years. I have his discharge paper from june 1865. there is that chance that our relatives in their respective units, knew each other. thanks to yours for their service.
