Thanks, Ron- These questions I've asked are part of research into Porter's use of the Mortar as a naval weapon.
His fleet of Mortar gunboats were a force in the Mississippi/Gulf of Mexico area. I'm wondering how many large Mortars were in the South Antebellum, lack of mention tells me not many or none.
