Stan,

For any queries of this type, you need to get hold of "Regimental Publications & Personal Narratives of the Civil War: A Checklist," by C. E. Dornbusch. That's pretty much the bible for regimental histories. It was published in 1961, so is out of date for any books more recent than that (which I realize is probably tens - hundreds? - of thousands), but that three volume set lists all known books, magazine articles, etc about any given Civil War regiment. I am not informed enough to know if there are recent updates, but if there aren't, there should be.

Many of the books listed are obscure and hard to find, but Dornbusch is a great resource.

I know, Jim, that this isn't near the quality of book review that should be appearing here, and I won't be offended if someone will follow up with a more detailed review of Dornbusch. In fact, I encourage it. This is a set of books that any researcher should be made aware of.
