The Civil War Artillery Message Board

Re: Confederate Artillery Question
In Response To: Confederate Artillery Question ()

Louisiana, lost to the Confederacy early in the conflict, has examples of personnel being shuffled around who did other than what they enlisted to perform. This example goes across the board, not just artillery. Many Louisiana troops enlisted as infantry became CSMC.

At the end of the conflict the personnel of the James River Squadron in Virginia were reorganized as artillery after their equipment was destroyed to prevent capture.
