Even farther from Kansas than Michigan is the State of New Jersey, the capital city of which is Trenton. There, in a park, is the most notable Parrot Rifle of them all, the 'Swamp Angel'. This 8 inch tube pummelled the city of Charleston for a period in the late summer of 1863 from a range of over 7000 yards using incendiary munitions until it burst at the breech on the 36th round. Two other Parrot tubes were dragged into position on the battery built on the marsh next to Shem's Creek before they were replaced by mortars, which didn't have the range for the job.
