Hi,
So many great people have answered questions pertaining to my great, great grandfather, Levi McBride's (Illinois 5th Cavalry, Co. M) Civil War term. I have just found some information on his brother, John Hugh McBride, in the Civil War.

Here's what I found on John McBride. I know that John and his family lived in Flora, IL (Clay County). It's not far from where Levi McBride lived in Wayne County, IL.

John H. McBride, SGT., Company E, Illinois 6th Cavalry.
Levi McBride, PVT., Company M, Illinois 5th Cavalry.

(Levi and John McBride mustered in the Cavalry within a couple of weeks of each other at Camp Butler.)

Finally, In the "remarks" section on both of their "detail report" says, "Levi McBride was discharged in Dec. 1864 "term expired". Then it says in John H. McBride "remarks" section says: "Private Discharged in Dec. 1864 Term Expired".

My question is; Were the 2 brother's discharged at the same place and time? Could they have fought together even though they were in different companies and regiments?

If anyone has any information on this I would grately appreciate it.
