How was the preplanned artillery fire done for Olustee? I can't see that it would have had any impact. From what I understand, Finegan had the CSA forces leave their positions to smash into the head of the Union column before it could fully deploy--something like a mile before the defenses. Colquitt did a good job of deploying the troops as Finegan fed them to him. Beauregard wasn't present as best I recall.
