Have you got a reference for the preplanned arty use? I'm going from what I recall reading of the O.R. reports and Nulty's "Confederate Florida, the Road to Olustee."
This was a meeting engagement (although it was not intended to be so.) The battle took place too far from the entrenchments for pre-planned arty to play a part. The closest thing I know of was the 30# parrot rifle mounted on a rail car that was sent forward in support.
Lt. Grant was sent to prepare the CSA works a few days in advance, but they were not complete and were not used during the battle as best I can tell.
The sparse pine would have effectively masked troops from long range artillery work.
